Keep an independent copy
Export and restore
A full archive keeps active and Recently Deleted journal records and original image bytes together. It may contain private notes and embedded image location or camera metadata. Store archives somewhere you trust.
Export
- Open Settings → Archive and storage → Export full archive.
- Wait for the archive to finish and validate. Keep the app open until the operation completes.
- Save the ZIP to Files or another destination you choose. Check the saved file exists and has a reasonable size.
- Keep the original device until you have tested restoration.
Restore
- Transfer your archive to the destination phone.
- Open Settings → Archive and storage → Restore an archive and choose the ZIP.
- Review the validated counts, then confirm Merge archive.
- Check representative photos, wear history and boards after restoration.
Restore validates the archive before changing the current library. New items are added. Newer archive revisions replace older matching items; records absent from the archive are kept. The confirmation shows additions, revisions and preserved records before you merge. Keep an independent archive of your current library before restoring if you need to retain both versions.
If validation fails
Do not edit the ZIP or delete your current library. Confirm you selected an Outfit Recall archive, the transfer finished, and you have enough free space. Keep the source phone and original archive. Contact support with the error text; do not send the archive by default.
Limits
Archives are not encrypted by Outfit Recall. Export takes storage and time. System backups are separate and follow your device settings. This release has no automatic live sync between devices. Archives currently validate up to 99,999 media files, 10 GB of uncompressed data, and a 50 MB library index. If your journal exceeds a limit, export may fail; keep the original device and contact support. A successful export is not proof of a successful restore; always check the destination library before deleting the source.
